Leading cement producer PPC Botswana has built a storage facility worth over P 20,000 for Good Hope based Skyopic Hardware store. The storage facility was officially unveiled this past Friday by the PPC Botswana and Skyopic management.

“Community development is important because it provides the foundation a society builds off of to improve the lives of its citizens. It creates strong, diverse communities that can attract and keep talent, start and grow businesses, and overcome issues that arise. We would love to see Skyopic Hardware growing to be reputable entrepreneurs that will soon be supplying huge projects with PPC cement that will be used to build some of the iconic buildings that Botswana will have soon,” said PPC Botswana Head of Business Unit Tuelo Botlhole.

Botlhole reiterated PPC Botswana’s commitment to developing the lives of Botswana through supporting local communities and assisting in ventures that promote job creation for Batswana. Skyopic is a new customer who began operations this past month so the shed was built to bring product closer to the community of Goodhope. Susan Mopedi is young woman entrepreneur who saw a gap in the market and was bold enough to start the hardware business. PPC Botswana took the responsibility to empower young entrepreneur and engaged a team of constructors to work on the structure, which is officially being used by the hardware store.

“Through the development of this new structure, we are hoping to see Skyopic Hardware growing to be one of the biggest hardware stores in the region that will continue to supply PPC cement. Skyopic Hardware has created employment in the community, we hope that today’s development will lead to more employment as it will improve the economy,” Botlhole says.

After the official unveiling of the storage facility, the PPC Botswana management stated that they are looking forward to doing more work with Skyopic Hardware and ensuring that they empower the Good Hope community. PPC Botswana has previously worked on some community development projects such as brick moulding workshops and providing brick making machinery for various SMMEs.

Skyopic founder Susan Mopedi was in high spirits during the official unveiling ceremony of the storage facility. She believes that this development will add impetus to the business operations and also play a role in developing the community of Good Hope.
