Letsholo calls for improved service delivery
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kanye North, Thapelo Letsholo, has called for efficient service delivery in the public service.
While presenting recommendations before the Finance and Estimates Committee this week, Letsholo who chairs the committee said there is need for improved service delivery in order to aid economic growth.
"We have to be empathetic on service delivery, beyond wastage," said Letsholo.
"Our service delivery leaves a lot to be desired for especially in Government and State Owned Enterprises."
While urging the leadership to lead from the forefront, he said even the private sector has room for improvement.
The Kanye North MP further called on government to reprimand poor performance.
"We must get to the bottom of this abyss, otherwise wastage will continue and money will go to other countries with better service and we will continue with a frustrated populace. By hook or crook, Botswana must become a model for best service delivery," he said.
Botswana's service delivery has been highlighted as one major obstacle to the country's economic development.
Economists have argued that poor public service has turned away investors leading to the loss of potential Foreign Direct Investment.
